The Syllabus/assessment table is a guideline as to which group the children are in. It is very important that the skills and drills have been mastered prior to promotion to the next stage.

Group 1
– 10 metres on front
– 10 metres on back
– Hold the wall & kick with face in the water taking 3 breaths.
– Star-float Front/Back for 10 seconds.
– Pick up sinker assisted.
Group 2
– 25 metres front-crawl
– 25 metres back-stroke
– Push and Glide on both Front/Back.
– Star-float Front/Back and Mushroom float for 5 seconds.
– Assisted submerge for 3 seconds.
– Pick up sinker unassisted.
Group 3
– 50 metres front-crawl
– 50 metres back-stroke
– Swim through a hoop underwater.
– Jump in, swim 5m & return to wall unassisted.
– Climb out unaided.
Group 4
– 75 metres front-crawl
– 75 metres back-stroke
– Swim through a hoop 1.5m deep & pick up a sinker.
– Sitting div and glide.
– Tred water unassissted for 30 seconds.
– Climb out unaided.
Group 5
– Prepare for lengths programme
– 100 metre assess will take place once progressed to group 6
– Improving Front crawl, Backstroke & Breaststroke techniques.
– Tred water for 1 minute.
– Sitting dive and submerge under water for 3m.
– Head first/Feet first surface dives & swim as far as they can underwater.
– Push and glide off wall and complete a foward roll in the middle of the pool and continue to swim.
Group 6
-The Survival Series programme includes the Waves Bronze survival series
– Swimming distances continue from 100 metres upwards
Group 7
– The Survival Series Programme includes the Waves Silver and Gold survival series
– Swimming distances continue up to 1,500 metres (1 mile)
